Blinky

Elliott is depressed. His eye looks OK, and you wouldn't be able to tell that there's anything wrong with it, unless you noticed him squinting. He's just not his normal, sprightly self. He would not give me an inch of space in bed last night. Poor kid. Oreo however, is enjoying her new found dominance. She struts around the apartment like she owns the place. It's kinda like Bizzaro World. Elliott wasn't even into The Office season premiere last night. What's up with that? Jim proposed to Pam. I cried. Elliott barely blinked. Mind you, it kind of hurts to blink so I'll give him that.

Oh Kids

Oreo scratched Elliott's eye. His left eye, the one with the black spot. It was purely accidental, but I would have thought that a cat with previous eye issues herself would be sensitive to ocular pain, as seen in Exhibit A. Apparently not. Now Elliott has to wear the cone for a week and get eye drops, which he hates. Of course.

Stay the Same

There are no words.
But there were tears.

The Right Stuff

Tonight I'm going to flash back to 1989. But I'll be 29 this time, not 11. I'm going to the New Kids on the Block concert in Toronto. It's the first show of their reunion tour. I'm practically losing my mind with excitement. When they originally announced their tour months ago, I planned on digging out all my old NKOTB stuff when I visited my parents last summer. Of course my plans fell through, so I didn't bother finding my Danny Wood socks, big earrings and cassette tapes. Yesterday my boss surprised me with two free tickets. Very decent of him. I've been a bundle of anticipation ever since. I bought their greatest hits on iTunes last night and annoyed Elliott and Oreo by singing "The Right Stuff". I also woke up at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep because "Step by Step" was running through my head. OK, so I'm almost 30 and it's just a reunion tour and I'm being a bit silly, but I just don't care. They were HUGE when I was a pre-teen and this is such a huge deal for me! I used to buy Teen Beat magazines specifically for their pictures. I used to have the occasional dream that we were all friends and would hang out and party. I had their posters up on my walls, with Jonathan Knight as the center focus. I loved him. He's the oldest and was the shyest. I'm so ridiculous. I can't wait to go tonight. I might just cry when Jordan hits the high notes in "I'll Be Loving You Forever". I'm not even joking.
