Trapped in an Elevator
I was trapped in an elevator with my friend Bruce tonight for 45 minutes. It was 6 x 4 ft and there were ten of us in there. The guy closest to the panel contacted the elevator people twice, but they said someone had been paged. People were just willing to wait it out. As if we had nothing better to do. I couldn't take it. I called the building, some Toronto police line, then 911. When I spoke to the dispatcher I was pretty friggin' forceful and explained to her how ridiculous our situation was and that no one was willing to help us. When she asked if anyone needed an ambulance I said that if they didn't get arrive soon that I would. She didn't laugh. Neither did I. We pried the doors open and we were stuck between the 6th and 7th floors. The firemen yelled and we yelled back. Then we opened the doors and they had to help us out. Just like in Speed. I was not amused. I was the only one who took control of the situation and ultimately I got us out of there. I rule.
